Rehab Patients Celebrate Independence at 16th Annual Reunion
“I was able to regain the use of my arm.”; “My speech is back to normal.”; “I re-learned how to do simple tasks like opening up the mail, because the therapists won’t let you give up.” These are just snippets of thousands of recovery stories told by former patients of the Peninsula Rehabilitation Center (PRC) at Florida Hospital Oceanside.
More than 100 former patients will attend the annual Rehab Reunion held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at the Daytona Beach Resort. They’ll visit with staff, physicians and friends they made at PRC while working through the intense rehabilitation program.
Housed at Florida Hospital Oceanside, PRC is the only comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation center in Volusia and Flagler counties. Since 1991, more than 8,000 neighbors have received care at the center. Having the center at Florida Hospital Oceanside offers the distinct support only a hospital can provide, including specialty medical consultation such as cardiology, medical telemetry, CT and MRI all under the same roof.
This year, the Peninsula Rehabilitation Center celebrates 16 years of providing residents in Volusia and Flagler counties with rehabilitation of the body and spirit as well as the independence to return to the highest level of function. Physical Medicine physicians, rehabilitation nurses, therapists and specialty trained professionals care for individuals 24 hours a day, seven days a week in a unique program.
Former PRC patients, who would like to attend this year’s 16th annual Rehab Reunion, can call 866-671-4660. Lunch is complimentary for former patients and one guest. There is an $18 charge for additional guests.
