Hospital Receives Business Recognition Award

ORANGE CITY, FL—June 15, 2011 – Florida Hospital Fish Memorial has received a statewide business recognition award for its longtime support of Volusia County Schools.

The hospital was recognized during the 24th annual Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards program presented by the Florida Education Foundation and Florida Department of Education in Tampa June 9. Florida Hospital Fish Memorial and 83 other organizations from around the state were recognized for their “unwavering commitment and creative partnerships with public schools.”

Pat Travis, facilitator for Volusia County Schools’ Volunteer/Partnership Programs, nominated the hospital for the honor. She noted that the hospital has donated more than $52,000 in clinic supplies to 23 southwest Volusia County public schools since 1994.

“The affiliation has also provided first-class educational experiences for students by offering hospital tours, job shadowing experiences and student volunteer opportunities,” Travis added. “Their timeless dedication to our students is exemplified through their generosity of donations, employee release time and professional resources.”

More than 40 percent of the hospital’s department directors participate in Junior Achievement programs and student advisory councils. The hospital works closely with Deltona High School’s Health Services Academy and provides sponsorships to numerous school programs, including the Futures Foundation and Deltona High School’s business partners organization.
