Local Nonprofits Are Invited to Decorate Trees to Win Prize Money from Florida Hospital Fish Memorial
ORANGE CITY – Florida Hospital Fish Memorial’s second annual Holiday Magic: A Festival of Trees is a contest for non-profit organizations in Volusia and Seminole Counties. The contest allows the hospital to show their appreciation to local nonprofits for their efforts in improving the community.
Each participating organization is provided with a six-foot artificial tree and asked to decorate the tree to portray the mission of their organization. The trees will be judged on three criteria: expression of mission, creativity and effort. Prizes are as follows:
• Grand Prize: $3,000
• Second Prize: $1.500
• Honorable Mention: $400
• People’s Choice: $100
It is free for non-profits to participate; however, they must complete a form, posted online at www.FHFishMemorial.org, and submit it with a copy of their 501(c) (3) to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial’s Marketing and Public Relations Department by November 11. The non-profit organizations are notified of confirmation after the form has been received and accepted. There are 30 trees available on first-come, first-served basis.
Trees can be decorated as early as November 21; all trees must be decorated by November 30. The trees will be displayed at the hospital for judging, and the general public will be encouraged to visit an online auction site, www.BiddingForGood.com/FHFM to bid on the trees.
Funds raised through the bidding process will benefit cancer patients in the community by helping Florida Hospital Fish Memorial expand and enhance cancer services and technology.
An awards ceremony for the participating nonprofits will be on Thursday, December 15 at 5:30 pm. at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial. The decorated trees may be picked up by winning bidders on Monday, December 19 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 pm.
